method and equipment and aim and hypthesis

Hypothesis: when melted, a candle will lose mass and become lighter.

Aim: to determine if candles lose mass when burnt and how much mass is lost from different candles when melted

Method:

a) Equipment:

5 different candles

Centigram

Timer

Plastic plate

Matches

b) Method:

1. Collect the equipment and set it up

2. Burn a candle for one hour and calculate mass loss at 10 minute intervals in percentage mass loss

3. Repeat step 2 for the other four candles

4. Observe the changes of the candles and other notable points of the experiment

5. Record results in a table and also plot the results on a graph

6. Clean up experiment area and put away equipment
