Hello all
So I’ve finally come up with an idea for my SRP experiment and am going to stick with it because I think it has potential. Here it is: “How much mass is lost from different candles when melted?”.
I am going to obtain these materials: scales, 5 different types of candles (varying in height and diameter) , matches and a timer.
My plan is to get the 5 different candles and burn them under identical conditions, one after the other for one hour and calculate mass loss at 10 minute intervals, in percentage mass loss (which I will plot on a graph for the results). My hypothesis is that the candles will in fact lose mass because many candles produce a scent plus the wick burns.
In the case of variables I have deduced that:
The independent variable is: time i.e. period of burning
The dependent variables is: mass of the candle
The things I will be able to control in the experiment are the time of burning and the environment in which the experiment is being conducted. I plan to conduct the experiment in an indoor environment where there is little or no wind interference.
So what do you think?
Bye for now but not forever.
